Virat Kohli was pleased to reunite with his former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate Roelof van der Merwe for India's final ICC World Cup 2023 league stage clash on Sunday (November 12).
The Indian legend greeted Netherlands veteran Van der Merwe with a big beaming smile and gifted him his signed Indian jersey as a mark of admiration and respect.
Kohli and Van der Merwe played for the famed Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise together during the 2009 and 2010 editions of the annual T20 carnival and share a cordial bond that has transcended beyond their RCB days under the sun.

Van der Merwe took time after the India-Netherlands clash fell decisively in the hosts' favour to meet with his former RCB teammate and share a heartening moment where Kohli was more than happy to greet him with a gifted signed jersey. The incident coincidentally happened at the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, which is RCB's den in the IPL.
The beautiful moment of the two RCB players reuniting was captured by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in a lovely clip revealed to the fans late on Sunday on Instagram after the completion of India's massive victory over the Dutch.
After the two teams underwent the traditional post-match handshakes, Van der Merwe and Kohli were seen chatting to each other on the sidelines in a light conversation that ended with the former asking for the Indian legend's autographed jersey.
On his part, Kohli was chuffed to see his former RCB teammate and gave his signed gear to the courageous Dutch cricketer, who remains the life and soul of the Netherlands outfit on a cricket field. In the manner that Kohli remains for India.
