After a successful tour of South Africa, Team India will now lock horns with Afghanistan in a three-match T20 series. This series serves as their final preparations before the T20 World Cup 2024. It also marks the first bilateral T20I series between the two nations.
This series will mark the return of the two iconic Indian batting duo, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both of whom have not played a T20I match for India since the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia in November 2022.
On the other hand, young talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Jitesh Sharma, Rinku Singh, and others have been called up to the team. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen who will open alongside Rohit Sharma - whether it will be Gill or Jaiswal, who has been in the form of his life.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, is arriving with a full-fledged team and gearing up to pose a tough challenge to India. However, they will be without the services of their frontline spinner, Rashid Khan, who is sidelined due to a back injury.
