As per emerging reports, the BCCI selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, will announce India's 15-member squad for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh on Monday, September 9. Swashbuckling keeper-batter Rishabh Pant's return will be the major highlight of the selection. Meanwhile, there are several players who India might drop for the home series.

Pant to return, KL Rahul and Sarfaraz to battle for a spot

According to Cricbuzz, Rishabh Pant's Test comeback is on the cards following his impressive performance in the Duleep Trophy encounter between India A and India B. Besides scoring a quick-fire fifty in the second innings, Pant looked convincing as a wicket-keeper, claiming several magnificent catches behind the stumps.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul emerged as India A's wrecker-in-chief with the bat, scoring the most runs for his side in a losing cause. The experienced batter could face a challenge from Sarfaraz Khan for an additional batter's slot in the Indian squad.

The report also claims that Devdutt Padikkal could be a dark horse in the race, while Rajat Patidar might lose his spot following his horrendous outings in the England series.

The report states that Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep could be India's frontline seamers for the Bangladesh series. Meanwhile, despite grabbing his chances, Mukesh Kumar could be shown the exit door, with India naming a spin-heavy team for the home assignment.

Regarding India's spin bowling department, the selectors are keen to persist with the dream quartet of R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. Meanwhile, Musheer Khan, who slammed a flamboyant century against Shubman Gill's team in the Duleep Trophy, will have to showcase his mettle for the A side before making it into the senior team.
