Jasprit Bumrah, the maestro with the ball in hand, is a craftsman who is born once in a generation. A talent, rivalled by none, Bumrah is cut from a different cloth, and Team India are blessed to have a bowler like him.

From MI to international stardom - Bumrah's journey

His journey to superstardom was not easy one. Scouted by former India coach, John Wright, Bumrah was picked by IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians, and since then he has had an upward trajectory.

The bowler with an uncanny action, Bumrah made his international debut in 2016, however, his breakthrough year in international cricket came in 2018. The young prodigy was picked for the South Africa Tests by then captain and coach duo - Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri, and the rest as they say, is history.

India had tour tours of South Africa, England, and Australia in the year 2018, and Bumrah excelled on all tours. During the historical Border-Gavaskar series, he created history and broke the 39-year-old long-standing record of scalping most Test wickets in the debut calendar year.

He picked up an astonishing 44 wickets that year, and went past the record held by Dileep Doshi, who picked up 40 wickets in 1979. It was due to the Bumrah onslaught with the ball that India managed to beat Australia, 2-1, in their own backyard.

Bumrah gears up for Bangladesh Test series

Bumrah was the chief architect of India's triumph at the T20 World Cup, 2024. He was named the Player of the Tournament, and post the World Cup, the Indian seamer took a break from the game, in order to refresh.

Recently, he started his training for the upcoming Bangladesh Tests. The star pacer will be the key bowler for India for the upcoming challenge against the Tigers.

The Team India squad for the Bangladesh series will be picked after the conclusion of Duleep Trophy round 1.
