India-Pakistan World Cup Game Likely To Be Shifted Due To Security Concerns

In what could derail Team India's World Cup 2023 preparations, their encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 15 at the iconic Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad could be rescheduled following advisory from various security agencies.

As per Hindustan Times, agencies have asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to reschedule the high-voltage encounter as it clashes with the first day of Navratri, widely celebrated in Gujarat.

The ICC CWC 2023 starts on October 5 and concludes on November 19, with India's first match taking place on October 8 against four-time winners Australia.

Here's what a close source said

“We are mulling the options we have and a decision will be taken soon. We have been told by the security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs Pakistan, for which thousands of travelling fans are expected to reach Ahmedabad, should be avoided since they will be stretched because of Navratri,” a BCCI source said as quoted by The Indian Express.

If the marquee clash is indeed shifted, it will be troublesome for the logistics. Fans have already booked hotels and also hospital beds ahead of time for the most-awaited match in CWC 23. However, the tickets for the game are yet to go on sale.

On the other hand, Pakistan kickoff their CWC 2023 campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad.
