The Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma can claim a historic record in Chepauk next week. If India wins the first Test against Bangladesh, the team will achieve a positive win-loss ratio for the first time in their 92-year Test history, having more wins than losses in the game's longest format.

India's journey in Test cricket has been a rollercoaster ride. The early years were marked by struggles, with the team finding it challenging to compete against more established cricketing nations like England and Australia.

Additionally, the men in blue were labelled subcontinent home bullies for the longest time, resulting in their struggles in overseas conditions.

India Have A Golden Chance To Improve Win-Loss Ratio In Tests

However, the modern era transformed the team's image completely. Currently, India have a 178-178 win-loss in 579 Tests, out of which 222 games were drawn. By outclassing Bangladesh in Chepauk, the Rohit Sharma-led team can write a historic record and reestablish themselves as a Test cricket giant nation.

Notably, the shift was first witnessed under MS Dhoni's leadership. The trend of overseas victories peaked under Virat Kohli's captaincy following 2014. Among all the captains in this century, Kohli has the most wins (40) as Test captain, while Rohit Sharma's win percentage is the highest due to the lack of a total sample size.

As India prepares for the decisive Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, the significance of this match is not lost on the players or fans. A win would mark India's first-ever positive win-loss record in Test cricket and symbolise the culmination of decades of hard work, perseverance, and growth.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Land In Chennai For First Test

Meanwhile, the superstars of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, have landed in Chennai for the first Test against Bangladesh.

While Kohli flew directly from London, Rohit joined the team after multiple training sessions in Mumbai.  Morne Morkel has also officially joined the Indian team as bowling coach. The first Test will commence on September 19 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
