Tilak Varma finally announced his arrival at the international stage and it couldn't have come at a better time for him and for his nation. The youngster who was promoted at number 3 by Suryakumar Yadav smashed an unbeaten 107 runs as India took a 2-1 lead in the T20I series.

In the 3rd T20I at the SuperSport Park, Centurion, Tilak showed his class and took the South African attack to the cleaners with his brilliant batting. He added 107 runs for the second wicket alongside Abhishek Sharma and laid the foundation for a strong Indian total.

• Tilak Varma became the 12th Indian batter to slam a century in the T20I format. He joined the likes of Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson in the elite list.
• Tilak became the second youngest Indian batter to score a T20I ton. Jaiswal was 21 years and 279 days old when he smacked his maiden T20I ton, and Tilak was 22 years and 5 days old.
• Tilak Varma became the Indian player with the highest individual score against the Proteas. Sanju Samson also scored 107 in the first T20I of the series, but unfortunately he got dismissed, while Tilak remained unbeaten.
• Tilak is the fifth Indian batter after Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina and Sanju Samson to smash a T20I century Vs South Africa.
