India await their toughest test as they face their fiercest rivals, Australia in a gruelling 5-match Test series, starting from November 22. The series provides a great chance for the India side to do the unthinkable and defeat the Aussies for the third successive time in their own backyard.

In 2018, it was under the guidance of Virat Kohli that India clinched the series, 2-1. It was followed by a memorable 2-1 win in 2020-21 series, where under the astute leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, the visiting Indian team produced the miracle of the decade to bounce back from the 36-all out drubbing.

This time around, the team will be led by Rohit Sharma. There are reports that he'll miss the first Test in Perth due to personal reasons, but captain Rohit will join the team from the second Test onwards. However, despite Rohit being the captain of this Indian side, the Australian media has not given any proper respect to the skipper, and has somewhat mocked him by promoting Virat Kohli instead.

On every Australian media outlets, Kohli is getting featured as the poster boy, and it seems the Aussie media has forgotten that the team is being led by Rohit Sharma. One of the prominent news channel - Channel 7 recently released its poster for the series, and surprisingly, they had pictures of Australian skipper Pat Cummins alongside Kohli. Now, ideally, the two captains feature on the series poster, but here, Rohit gets the axe.

Why is Australian media promoting Kohli over Rohit?

Kohli is the poster boy of Indian cricket

Arguably one of the best players of the world, Kohli is a huge draw and wherever he goes, the former India skipper gets the desired attention. This is the main reason why Australian media is after him. They know Kohli is the biggest money-making player and by using his name, they can earn viewership.

Kohli gives Australian media the content they want

Lets' be honest, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are two players with different nature. While Rohit tends to stay silent, Kohli is on your face and this is something the Aussie media wants.

They want to create a fuss out of everything and Kohli is the sort of player they feel can give them ample content for the entirety of the series.

He has had his fair share of fights with the Australian players and crowds, and media loves when something like this happen.

However, this is somewhat disrespectful to Rohit Sharma, who is the leader of the team and yet he doesn't get featured anywhere.
