The third T20I between India and South Africa turned out to be a thrilling affair with the match going down to the final over. It was a high-scoring game and India managed to clinch the game by 11 runs.

Arshdeep Singh grabbed three wickets with the ball and played a big role in India defending the target on a flat deck. However, it was Tilak Varma's century that set the game for India as he smashed 109 off just 56 balls and India's move to send the young batter at number 3 worked wonders. Suryakumar Yadav has been batting at number 3 since he has taken over the leadership, but he decided to sacrifice his position in this game and Tilak Varma made sure that he makes his captain happy.

Suryakumar Yadav Credits Tilak Varma For His Confidence

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Suryakumar Yadav revealed that Tilak Varma came to Suryakumar Yadav after the second T20I and asked him if he can bat at number 3 in the next game. He then added that he sent Tilak at number 3 in the third T20I and asked him to just enjoy himself and he knew that the Hyderabad batter is capable of delivering at the international stage. He also sarcastically added that Tilak Varma will continue to bat at number 3 for India in T20Is and credited him for delivering to his promise.

"What can I say about Tilak Varma? He came to me in Gqeberha after the game and asked me if he could bat at three. I said to him it was his day and to enjoy himself. I knew what he was capable of doing and very happy for him. He is definitely batting at three going forward (laughs). He asked for it, and he delivered. Very happy for his family."

The fourth and final T20I of the series will be played at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Friday and with India 2-1 ahead, South Africa can only level the level the series with a win at the 'Bull Ring.'
