Regarding the complaints that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) filed regarding alleged rude spectator behavior during their World Cup 2023 match against India in Ahmedabad, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is not likely to act. The exclusive development was reported by Press Trust of India (PTI) a day after the PCB's complaints became the talk of the town.

Only a small number of Pakistani fans were present in the crowd, which was estimated to be over 100,000 in Ahmedabad. Mickey Arthur, the director of the Pakistani team, subsequently made the comparison to a bilateral match rather than an ICC event’s fixture. He also questioned why there was no Pakistani music playing in the stadium, bringing up Dil, Dil Pakistan, a song that is always played at Pakistani games at ICC events.

However, an ICC official confirmed to PTI that the complaints will be disregarded.

Here's what the official said to PTI

"The ICC takes every complaint very seriously, but code is about individuals. I don't know what exactly PCB is looking at, but it will be very difficult to take any tangible action," he added.

"The ICC may identify individuals if there are charges of racism, but if thousands of people are shouting a slogan, what can you do? No player was injured by any 'missile' hurled from the gallery? A partisan crowd is expected. That's the pressure of elite sports.”

The PCB complaint referred to section 11 of the ICC's anti-discrimination policy for international cricket.

It is standard protocol for the ICC to display billboards during its events expressing its stand against racism and zero tolerance. That being said, these rules apply more to individual cases than group ones.
