Bangladesh's wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim has suffered a finger injury just days before the first Test against Pakistan, starting on August 21.

The injury occurred during training in Islamabad, where Bangladesh A team was playing a four-day game against Pakistan Shaheens.

The 37-year-old was rested from batting in the second innings but scored 14 runs in the first innings.

Despite the injury, Mushfiqur Rahim is optimistic about playing the first Test at Rawalpindi cricket stadium.

In a video sent to the media on Saturday, he said, "I didn't bat in the second innings due to my injury. I got hurt while batting in the nets. Hopefully, I will recover quickly and play the first Test."

This injury adds to Bangladesh's concerns, as Mahmudul Hasan Joy has already been ruled out of the Tests due to a groin injury suffered during fielding in the Bangladesh A team's match. No replacement has been announced yet.

The two-match series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi, followed by the second Test in Karachi from August 30.
