Virat Kohli is one of the most highly-rated fielders in world cricket and his ground fielding has been appreciated from all corners over the years. His world-class fitness has played a big role in his swiftness as a fielder, but over the years, he has been guilty of dropping quite a few catches as well.

From 2019 till August 2024, Virat Kohli dropped 36 catches, the most by any Indian cricketer in that time period. This glaring stat came into focus once again on the opening day of the first Test match between India and Australia in the ongoing BGT, when he dropped Marnus Labuschagne in the third over of home team's innings. He is second in the list of highest dropped percentages since 2011 among the players who have got minimum 100 chances.

However, one thing is to be noted, that he mostly fields at hot spots where the ball travels very quickly and the probability of him dropping a catch increases. Over the years, he has pulled off some amazing catches, both inside the 30-yard circle and near the boundary line. Along with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma has also dropped quite a few catches and in the same time period from 2019 to August 2024, he dropped 33 catches.

Mohammed Siraj is third in that list with 16 dropped catches while the leggie Yuzvendra Chahal has dropped 13 catches. Shreyas Iyer too is on that list, he is fifth with 12 dropped catches in the last five years. Despite these stats, India remain a quality fielding side and Virat Kohli is still one of the finest fielders with ability to win games for his side with jaw-dropping on-field antics.
