On Sunday afternoon, shooter Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian female shooter to win an Olympic medal. The 22-year-old bagged a bronze medal to open Team India's tally in the Paris Olympics 2024, after which social media exploded with congratulatory posts.

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to congratulate Pistol Queen for her bronze medal. The 42-year-old stated that Bhaker has made India proud. Not just Gambhir but the Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav uploaded Instagram stories to wish the Olympic medallist.

The Jhajjar-born shooter began her campaign in the Paris Olympics on Saturday by finishing third in the Qualification round. Meanwhile, Bhaker continued her excellent form on Sunday to bag a medal.

Interestingly, she has become the sixth Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal, after Rajyavardhan Singh (S) in 2004, Abhinav Bindra (G) in 2008, Vijay Kumar (B) and Gagan Narang in 2012.

Gambhir, who is currently in Sri Lanka on his first assignment as an India coach, began the assignment with a victory in the first T20I by 43 runs, thanks to Suryakumar's 58, Rishabh Pant (49) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (40).
