Making a sensational debut in Test cricket, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a stunning 171 against West Indies in Dominica. This magnificent performance, along with Ravichandran Ashwin's incredible 12-wicket haul, led to India's emphatic victory, winning by an innings and 141 runs.

Jaiswal's father reveals son's emotional video call after century

Born into difficult circumstances, Jaiswal's rise to cricketing fame has been no less than a heroic tale of resilience. From living in tents to vending street food to finance his cricketing dreams, Jaiswal's commitment to his sport has been inspiring.

The Mumbai-based cricketer had a dream debut as he became the third Indian opener to score a century in their first Test appearance. Upon reaching his magnificent century, he shared an emotional moment with his father, Bhupendra.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Jaiswal's father, a small paint shop owner in Bhadohi, recounted the heartfelt phone call he received around 4:30 am on Day 2 after his son scored a century.

Overwhelmed with emotion, both father and son shed tears during the emotional moment. Jaiswal, exhausted and unable to speak for long, simply asked his father if he was happy.

"He called around 4:30 am in the morning (IST) after scoring his century (Day 2). He couldn't hold back his tears. I cried too. It was a very emotional moment. He could not talk for a long time. He was tired. He just asked me 'are you happy, father?," said Jaiswal's father.

In a heartfelt video shared by the BCCI, Jaiswal also paid tribute to his parents after the end of play on Day 2. The talented opener shed light on this achievement's importance for him and his family. He expressed his deep gratitude for the support he has received throughout his journey, highlighting the pivotal role his parents played in his success.

At 21 years and 196 days, Jaiswal has notched impressive records with his debut performance. He now stands as the fifth youngest cricketer globally to score 150 on a Test debut. He also joined the ranks of the exclusive group of Indians to score a century in an overseas debut Test. Moreover, he surpassed Mohammad Azharuddin's record, becoming the Indian debutant to face the most number of balls in Test cricket.
