India and West Indies are facing off in the first match of the Test series at Windsor Park in Dominica. On the first day of the game, West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first. The Indian bowlers, led by the veteran Ravichandran Ashwin were on the spot and bundled out the hosts for just 150 runs.

Solid Start by Indian Openers

After dismissing the West Indians for a paltry total the Indian openers looked very compact and made it through the end of the first day without losing any wickets. Resuming at 80 without loss on day 2, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma ensured that their partnership remained intact on the first session of the day. The duo added just 66 runs in the first session and went to lunch at 146 for the loss of no wickets.

Post-Tea, the duo started to take on the West Indian bowling and are currently on the way to a huge lead. In the process, Yashasvi Jaiswal has gone past the three-figure mark on his debut Test. He has become the 17th Indian player to do so and the 115th player in world cricket to achieve the feat.

Jaiswal is also the third Indian opener to score a hundred in his debut test after Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan. Also, this is the first time an Indian opener has scored a century on his debut Test away from home

He brought up his Hundred in 215 balls. Currently, he is batting at 100*, while India is stationed at 205 for no loss having a lead of 55 runs. (At the time of Publishing the Article)
