Harry Brook, one of the most consistent batters for England in Test cricket in the last year or so has pulled out of the Test series against India due to personal reasons. He was already in India with the rest of the English squad but has decided to return back due to a personal emergency that is still unknown.

Brook's replacement will soon be announced as mentioned by ECB in their official report. The right-handed batter has been a vital member of the new-age England Test side with his aggressive strokeplay aligning perfectly with the Bazball tactics. He scored 701 runs in 8 matches in 2023 and was England’s second highest scorer.

The absence of Brook will now leave a huge void in the English middle-order and Ben Foakes might get a game in his absence.

Will Jacks might replace Harry Brook in the squad as he was part of the English squad when they toured Pakistan in December 2022. Jacks provides an all-round option with his aggressive batting and off-breaks, and can be handy in Indian conditions. Dan Lawrence is another talented batter who might replace Brook, as he was part of the squad when last time England toured India.

The first Test of the five-match Test series will be played in Hyderabad and is set to start on 25th of January .
