'Bazball Won't Succeed In India' - Harbhajan Singh's Bold Claim

Even as a sense of anticipation persists on how Team India would counter England's ultraggressive 'Bazball' tactics and retain their home dominance during the forthcoming five-Test series, former spinner Harbhajan Singh predicted an unsuccessful tour for skipper Ben Stokes' juggernaut.

As England strive to continue their merry run in Indian conditions, the 'Turbanator' reckoned Team India will pose a threat too stiff for the visitors with their great spinners and an overall rounded side led by Rohit Sharma.

India haven't lost a Test series at home since November 2012 and enjoy amongst the most one-sided records in their den in the history of Test cricket, with only three defeats observed in the last 11 years as they have managed to repeatedly outperform the tourists coming here.

Harbhajan Doesn't Buy The 'Bazball' Hype

"Bazball is not going to work. The conditions are going to be very difficult for England. There will be turn from the very first delivery and spinners from both sides will get purchase," the former India spinner was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

"England will be able to dominate only if they get a pitch which has nothing to offer to spinners," he added.

'Bazball', the term coined after coach Brendon McCullum's nickname, is his brainchild in terms of approach which has eased England's vulnerable lot of batters and given them the freedom to put the bowlers under pressure.

Forging an assault against the bowlers' lengths and destroying opposition field settings, the McCullum-Stokes regime has won 13 of its previous 18 Tests at the helm and lost only 4.

A remarkable turnaround from the phase where they went through a phase of 12 defeats and 10 wins from their previous 29 Tests since the pandemic.
