As per emerging reports, experienced all-rounder Hardik Pandya will likely be rested for India's upcoming Ireland tour. Pandya, supposed to participate in the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup, might not feature in the Ireland T20Is as a part of workload management. In his absence, swashbuckling batter Suryakumar Yadav will likely be appointed as the Indian captain for the tour.

Pandya, an integral member of the Indian white-ball team, will represent the national side in the upcoming ODI and T20I series against West Indies.

As the Ireland series commences only three days after the conclusion of the Caribbean tour, the BCCI could opt to rest the veteran all-rounder, naming Yadav the skipper for the three T20Is.

"Nothing is finalised yet and it will also depend on how Hardik is feeling after the ODIs and T20Is in West Indies. There is travelling involved and only a short turnaround of three days before one flies from Florida to Dublin. With the World Cup being of primary importance, one has to factor in his workload. Let's not forget he will be Rohit's deputy in the World Cup," a BCCI source told PTI.

Meanwhile, it's also speculated that India could also rest Ishan Kishan, picking Sanju Samson as his like-for-like replacement for the Ireland tour. The men in blue will clash against the Irishmen in three T20Is between August 18 and 23 in Dublin.
