Indian all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja’s departed after scoring a determined 61 off 152 balls on Day 2 of the second Test against West Indies at the iconic Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 61

The southpaw’s inning, which was vital in India’s resurrection after losing four quick wickets on Day 1, was cut short in the 104th over of the match by a Kemar Roach delivery.

Roach enticed Jadeja with a full-length ball wide of off stump. The Indian player attempted a drive, missing the ball, which was subsequently caught by wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva. The West Indies team immediately appealed for an edge. Jadeja’s reaction to his shot suggested that he too might have felt a connection.

Despite this, the on-field umpire, Marai Erasmus, did not initially give Jadeja out. Yet, the West Indies team's conviction led them to review the decision. The third umpire was brought into play and UltraEdge confirmed a spike when the ball passed the bat, leading to the on-field decision being overturned in favour of the hosts.

Before his dismissal, Jadeja had played an essential role in India's fightback, forming a crucial 159-run partnership with Virat Kohli, who scored his 29th Test century in the process.

The all-rounder, who hit five boundaries in his knock, showed a perfect blend of endurance and aggression. Once Kohli was dismissed, Jadeja partnered with Ishan Kishan before a momentary lapse in concentration resulted in his unfortunate dismissal.

Meanwhile, India have reached 373/6 in 108 overs with Kishan and Ravichandran Ashwin at the crease, batting at 18 and 6 respectively.

The West Indies will be seeking to break this partnership and expose the Indian tail, in an attempt to restrict the visitors to a manageable total.
