Gujarat Titans star Rahul Tewatia stunned one-and-all by sporting a bold new look at the Ranji Trophy 2024 season. Making way from his beard and donning just a moustache, Tewatia’s appearance in his recent outing reminded everyone of Pakistan batting great Javed Miandad.

Even though the cricketer pounded a career-best 144 in the match, it was his retro-look that garnered the most attention among fans on social media.

Turning up for Haryana in their Ranji Trophy 2024 Elite Group A clash against Jharkhand at Jamshedpur, Rahul Tewatia arrived to the crease within the opening day of the contest at 247-5. The cricketer batted through the remaining overs by reaching 51* till stumps.

Despite listing a splendid half-century during the twilight stages of the day, it was Tewatia’s retro-look that became the talk of the cricketing town across all social media platforms. Sporting a moustache, the star Indian all-rounder reminded everyone of former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad’s look from the 1980s.

Some fans even compared Tewatia with former Indian all-rounders Manoj Prabhakar and Aashish Kapoor.

On the cricketing front, Rahul Tewatia pounced on his unbeaten overnight score to convert it into his maiden first-class century. The attacking left-hander pumped out 144 runs from just 212 balls with 24 free-flowing boundaries and a scorching six to his name. Emerging as the top-scorer of his side in the innings, Tewatia’s effort extended Haryana’s total to a monumental 509 by Day 2.

Haryana bowlers subsequently wrapped up Jharkhand twice in less than two days to seal an innings win, courtesy of Jayant Yadav’s twin five-fers.

It remains to be seen if Rahul Tewatia is intending to take his ‘bold new look’ to larger masses through the upcoming IPL 2024 season. The seasoned domestic all-rounder was retained by the Gujarat Titans franchise back in November 2023 on IPL 2024 auction day. The IPL 2024 season itself is scheduled to commence sometime in late March.
