Andre Russell’s valiant knock of 37 runs in 16 balls came to an end in the 10th over of the second innings in the 2nd T20I against Australia on Sunday.

Marcus Stoinis bowled a short delivery at a good height to Russell. The batter miscued it only to be caught at deep mid-wicket by Josh Inglis.

Here’s a look at the video clip:

West Indies had lost five wickets for just 65 runs inside seven overs and looked completely down and out. West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell, however, reignited some hope by hitting a barrage of boundaries. He hit three successive fours off Spencer Johnson in the 7th over and followed with a four and a six to Zampa.

As a result, West Indies had reached the 100-run mark inside the first 10 overs. But, Russell, unfortunately, couldn’t convert that one into a big one. The 35-year-old departed after playing a handy knock of 37 off 16 balls.

Earlier, the likes of Nicholas Pooran (18 off 10) and Johnson Charles (24 off 11) got starts but failed to convert. Marcus Stoinis, who didn’t make a significant contribution with the bat, picked up three wickets in the second innings.

Nevertheless, despite the wicket of Russell, West Indies kept scoring runs at a quick pace, thanks to a blistering knock of Rovman Powell. The West Indies captain put on a show with the bat as he played a sensational knock of 63 runs in 36 balls, including five fours and four sixes.

West Indies had a glimmer of hope till the time Powell was grinding it out in the middle. However, Zampa, eventually, got him out in the 17th over and the visitors, in the end, fell 38 runs short of the target.

Earlier, Australia posted a huge score of 241 runs in the first innings, courtesy of an enterprising knock of 120 runs in 55 deliveries from Glenn Maxwell.
