Kolkata Knight Riders retained as many as six players before they head into mega auction for IPL 2025. However, Shreyas Iyer, their title-winning captain, has not found a place in that list, leaving cricket fans in complete disbelief.
Nevertheless, Rinku Singh, who had a salary of INR 55 lakh last year, has emerged as KKR's top retention. Rinku will have a salary of INR 13 crore, while Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Harshit Rana, and Ramandeep Singh have kept their places in the franchise.

KKR Remaining Purse For Mega Auction
Despite spending INR 57 crore across six players, KKR will enter the mega auction hall with INR 51 crore in their kitty. They might have spent less on players, but their spending formula was (18+14+11+18+4+4 crores).
1st Retention For KKR for IPL 2025 - Rinku Singh
As expected, Rinku Singh is KKR's top retention before IPL 2025, giving him an unreal salary hike with an INR 13 crore contract. With Shreyas Iyer leaving, who knows, Rinku could be KKR's next captain?
2nd Retention For KKR for IPL 2025 - Varun Chakravarthy
Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, the man who joined them in 2020, is KKR's second retention, rewarding him with a INR 12 crore contract.
3rd Retention For KKR for IPL 2025 - Sunil Narine
Sunil Narine, IPL 2024's player of the tournament, has remained in his only franchise in the tournament, as the Knight Riders have given him a pay rise. Earlier, Narine was earning a 6 crore per season, and now he will be getting as much as Chakravarthy.
4th Retention For KKR for IPL 2025 - Andre Russell
After all the drama and what not, Andre Russell stays with KKR. Russell, KKR's heart-throb, will earn same as Narine and Varun, as the Knight Riders have kept them in almost same salary bracket.
Uncapped Retentions For KKR for IPL 2025 - Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh
This is the only area where the Knight Riders get smart deals. They agreed to keep Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh, who produced stellar performances last year, for INR 4 crore each. Even though they had a contract of INR 20 lakh each, they could go well above this current salary if they go into auction.
