Anticipation for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is rising daily, with former players and fans already predicting their four semi-finalists for the marquee event. The World Cup 2023 will be held in India between October 5 and November 19, with England looking to defend the title.

Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers believes that hosts India has the best chance of winning the trophy and rekindling memories of the 2011 World Cup. Speaking on his YouTube channel, de Villiers in a Q&A session named his four favourites for the semi-finals stage.

India became the first host nation to clinch the coveted World Cup trophy under MS Dhoni in 2011, and since then the trend has been repeated.

Here's what de Villiers said

"Definitely, India. I think they will go on to win it over there again. It’s going to be a fairy-tale World Cup. India, England, Australia - got to go with the big three. Then I want to go with South Africa, even though Pakistan have a really good chance as well. So the fourth team will be South Africa."

"I’ve gone with three non-sub-continent teams there, which is very risky. But I am going to stick to it because I think the wickets will be good. I don’t think the World Cup is going to see bad wickets during the duration of the tournament."

The former RCB batter further predicted that the Final will be played between England and India.
