Gambhir's KKR Colleagues Abhishek Nayar & Ten Doeschate Set To Join India For SL Series

Gautam Gambhir, the new head coach of the senior men's Indian team is set to start his maiden assignment and now with the team set to leave for Sri Lanka, Cricbuzz has reported that Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate have been appointed as the assistant coaches and will be with the team during the Sri Lanka tour. 

T Dilip, on the other hand, has been retained as a fielding coach following his effective performance under former coach Rahul Dravid.


KKR Reunion In The Indian Team

There is still doubt over the appointment of a bowling coach, but another of Gambhir’s former KKR teammates, Morne Morkel is one of the strong candidates for the role. Ryan ten Doeschate and Abhishek Nayar were with Gautam Gambhir in KKR’s winning campaign of IPL 2024, and from the time he has been appointed as the head coach, these three of his former colleagues have been speculated to join the coaching staff.

Also, T Dilip and Abhishek Nayar are likely to leave with the Indian team for Colombo on Monday, 22nd of July while Ryan ten Doeschate is currently in the USA with LA Knight Riders, and will join the team later.

There has been no formal announcement of these appointments though, but BCCI is likely to announce it before the Indian team leaves for Colombo for a white-ball tour scheduled to start on the 27th of July.
