The Serena Hotel in Islamabad caught fire on Friday, April 11, i.e., mere hours prior to the launch of the PSL 2025 season. As per reports, the hotel was also sheltering several PSL-bound cricketers and management members at the time.

The PSL 2025 is set to launch later in the evening with a match between Lahore Qalandars and defending champions Islamabad United. The match will be hosted by the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, i.e., adjacent to Pakistan’s capital city Islamabad.

Major drama unfolded in Pakistan mere moments prior to the launch of the tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Serena Hotel in Islamabad, where several PSL players and management members are currently staying, had a fire broke out on its sixth floor.

Several videos of the hotel covered in smoke went viral on social media, prompting fans and cricket lovers to raise their concerns about the safety of players in Pakistan. Fortunately for the Pakistani cricket fans, another report indicated that all players and management members were evacuated safely and the fire brigade and other authorities managed to subdue the fire under control.


With all players as well as hotel guests returning safe and unharmed, the PSL 2025 season will run as scheduled from Friday, April 11 onwards.

Defending champions Islamabad United, under the leadership of Shadab Khan, will be taking on the Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars in the opening match of the tournament. The action is slated to commence from 9:00 PM IST onwards at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
