The 25th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 features the Chennai Super Kings Vs the Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Super Kings, the home side have been on a losing streak and will be eager to end it as they take on the Knight Riders, who, too, are heaving a topsy-turvy season.
The Ajinkya Rahane led side are coming into this battle on the back of a close-fought loss against LSG, and will look to forget that loss as they enter the Lion's den. During the toss time, it was not Ruturaj Gaikwad, but former skipper, MS Dhoni walked out for the toss. Why did "Thala", came out for the toss? Here's the reason.
Why MS Dhoni is captaining CSK?
The Super Kings' regular captain, Gaikwad suffered from an injury during the clash against Rajasthan Royals a couple of days ago. With the injury, he played two matches against DC and PBKS, but failed to deliver the goods as he looked in some discomfort.
The injury got a bit serious as he had hairline fracture and as a result, the captain of the team was ruled out of the tournament. Hence, the CSK management decided to go back to their best bet for captaincy - MS Dhoni, who returns to take charge of the side after one full season.
