[Watch] Emotional Ravi Shastri & Farokh Engineer Win Lifetime Achievement Award

Former Indian cricketers and now-designated legends Farokh Engineer and Ravi Shastri have been awarded the Col C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award during the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) award show 'NAMAN'.

Shastri, who has been at the forefront of Indian cricket for the past few decades, firstly as the cricketer with the 1983 World Cup winning side, then as the broadcaster and later, as the head coach of the Indian side where they won memorable Gabba Test against Australia back in 2020-21.

With the bat, he has been top-notch, managing 3,830 runs in 80 Tests at an average above 35, whereas with the ball, he has picked up 151 wickets.

While receiving the award, Ravi expressed his satisfaction over the award that he has been presented with by the BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah and also mentioned that a more significant medal for him was the win in Gabba as Rishabh Pant smashed the winning runs.


"The most expensive medal for me is the Gabba win - The Rishabh Pant hitting the winning run".

Before Shastri, the other person to receive the award was Farokh Engineer, who amassed a total of 2,611 runs in 46 Test matches. Engineer was highly popular for his class with the bat and skills behind the stumps with gloves in hand.

Nari Contractor, Gundappa Viswanath, Mohinder Amarnath, Salim Durani, Ajit Wadekar, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar, Syed Kirmani, Rajinder Goel, Padmakar Shivalkar, Pankaj Roy, Anshuman Gaekwad and Kris Srikkanth to name a few, were the previous recipients of this particular prestigious award.
