In the BCCI Awards ceremony, Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin and emerging young top-order batter Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged as the deserving recipients of the Dilip Sardesai award for their outstanding performances against West Indies in the 2022-23 season.

Ashwin was at his absolute best in the Test series against West Indies in the Caribbean. The ace off-spinner ended the series with the highest number of wickets in the series, taking 15 wickets in four innings.

In the first Test at Windsor Park in Dominica, Ashwin's stellar performance of 12 wickets contributed significantly to India's victory by an innings and 141 runs. His bowling spell of 7 for 71 led to West Indies folding for 130 on the third evening.

Not only did Ashwin shine with the ball, but he also made substantial contributions with the bat, exemplified by his unbeaten 56 off 78 balls in India’s first innings of the second Test, laced with eight fours. This well-rounded performance reaffirmed Ashwin's status as one of the world's premier all-rounders in the red-ball format.

On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal, playing his first ever Test series in West Indies, proved why he's been rated so highly as a batter. Jaiswal emerged as the leading run-scorer in the two-Test series against West Indies, amassing an impressive total of 266 runs in three innings at a remarkable average of 88.66.

His debut Test in Dominica was particularly memorable, where he crafted a marathon innings of 171, facing 387 balls on his Test debut and showing a commendable blend of patience and flair.

The hallmark of his batting was the way he shifted gears and paced his innings across the three innings. His contributions with the bat played a crucial role in India's success, and his debut series promises a promising future at the top of the order for the left-handed batter.

In recognition of their exceptional performances, both Ashwin and Jaiswal were rightfully honored with the Dilip Sardesai Award, a testament to their significant contributions to India's 1-0 series win against West Indies in the 2022-23 season.
