On September 4, 2023, a renowned journalist from Pakistan took to his Twitter to indicate that the PCB management has recently reached out  to ACC president Jay Shah recommending him to shift the upcoming Asia Cup matches to Pakistan due to heavy rains in Sri Lanka.

The weather forecast all over Sri Lanka has not been so promising in recent times with quite a few games being hampered due to severe rain interruptions.

The third game of the 2023 Asia Cup turned out to be a dampener as rain played spoilsport during the blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan last Saturday.

The fans were poised to see an enthralling finish to the game with India posting a decent score of 266 after recovering from the sheer carnage inflicted by the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah. But much to the dismay of several cricket fans, Pakistan’s second innings failed to get underway due to persistent showers and the game had to be abandoned eventually.

We may be in for another damp affair in the upcoming Asia Cup match between India and Nepal which is scheduled for Monday. According to the latest weather reports, there is an 89% probability of precipitation accompanied by an additional 26% likelihood of possible thunderstorms.

With the weather showing no signs of improvement, talks are currently underway to shift the super four matches and the final from Colombo to Dambulla which is known to have a relatively dry weather during this time of the year.

Besides, given India’s political stance towards Pakistan these days, it is highly unlikely that the Men in Blue will be willing to travel to Pakistan to play their remaining Asia Cup fixtures.
