Mustafizur Rahman Replaces Jake Fraser-McGurk In DC Squad
As reported earlier, swashbuckling Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk won't return to India for the remaining IPL 2025 matches.
In such a scenario, DC had to pick his replacement, and, as confirmed by the IPL, the franchise has secured the services of Mustafizur for the rest of the tournament. However, they won't be able to retain him as he joins the team as a post-suspension replacement.
It's worth mentioning that Jake Fraser-McGurk failed to live up to the expectations for DC in the IPL 2025. He played six matches, scoring only 55 runs at a horrible average of 9.17. His technical flaws were evident, as he fell prey to quality fast bowling on several occasions in the tournament.
Interestingly, DC used RTM for Fraser-McGurk, who struck 330 runs at a blistering strike rate of 234.04 in the previous season. However, as he couldn't fulfil his potential, it won't be surprising if the franchise releases him ahead of the next season.
Mustafizur Rahman's IPL Career And Stats
Hailed for his exceptional death-bowling skills, Mustafizur Rahman has played 57 IPL matches, scalping 61 wickets at an impressive strike rate of 21.28.
The veteran left-arm speedster has represented five IPL teams- CSK, RR, MI, DC and SRH- across seven seasons. With his signing, the Capitals' bowling unit has certainly strengthened, with them eyeing a spot in the all-important playoffs.
