In a significant development, the International Cricket Council, on Monday, unveiled seven new inductees into its prestigious Hall of Fame. While former captain MS Dhoni found a place as the only Indian on the list, Hashim Amla, Graeme Smith, Sana Mir, Sarah Taylor, Matthew Hayden and Daniel Vettori were also included in the club.

Dhoni became only the eleventh cricketer from India to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. While his inclusion became a matter of pride for Indian cricket and its passionate fanbase, it also raised curiosity regarding the non-selection of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma into the list of elite cricketers.

Why ICC Hasn't Included Kohli, Rohit In Hall Of Fame Yet

Talismanic cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been proven match-winners for the Indian team. Apart from shattering multiple records, the legendary duo have scripted numerous memorable wins for the Men in Blue across all three formats of the game.

In such a scenario, the ICC not preferring Kohli and Rohit for a spot in the Hall of Fame has made fans raise their eyebrows. However, it's worth mentioning that according to the existing rule, the apex body can't induct an active cricketer into its Hall of Fame.

A cricketer must've been retired from international cricket for at least five years to get an entry into the Hall of Fame, which comprises legends from worldwide. Although Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have retired from Tests and T20Is, they are still active in the ODI format.

Therefore, the legendary batting duo can be considered for the ICC Hall of Fame at least five years after bidding adieu to all formats of the game. After retiring from Tests, Kohli and Rohit might be back in action when India play their next ODI series against Bangladesh in August.
