In a significant development, veteran Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has been penalised for his indecent actions during the Tamil Nadu Premier League match between Dindigul Dragons and iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. It's worth mentioning that Ashwin leads the Dragons in the competition.

R Ashwin Fined Heavily For Major Rule Violation

For the unversed, retired Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was left stunned when the on-field umpire adjudged him LBW in the high-voltage game between Dindigul and Tiruppur. As the ball appeared to have pitched outside the leg stump, Ashwin stood his ground and even had a verbal altercation with the umpire after being declared out.

However, as he was forced to make his way back to the hut, Ashwin burst out in anger and smashed his pad with the bat.

The cricketer's actions were considered inappropriate by the match referee, who sanctioned him thirty per cent of his match fees.

"There was a hearing conducted by the match referee after the game. Ashwin was fined 10 per cent for showing dissent towards the umpires and 20 per cent for misuse of equipment," a TNPL official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz

As the official revealed, Ashwin accepted his mistake as well as the sanctions, so the referee didn't take any further disciplinary action against the seasoned cricketer.

R Ashwin's Performance In TNPL 2025

Legendary Indian cricketer R Ashwin had a torrid run for CSK in the IPL 2025. He has had a topsy-turvy start to the TNPL as well, managing 33 runs and two wickets across two matches.

Ashwin-led Dindigul Dragons have won one of their first two matches, occupying the fifth place in the eight-team standings. They will face Siechem Madurai Panthers in their third group-stage match.
