In a significant development, London Spirit have roped in Tim Southee as replacement for Nathan Ellis for the ongoing Men's Hundred competition. Notably, Ellis will miss the Spirit's final group-stage game and the knockouts, provided they qualify, owing to national commitments. The fast bowler will join the Australian white-ball squad for their upcoming South Africa tour, with Southee replacing him for the final leg of the tournament.

Ellis has been a standout performer for London Spirit, emerging as their go-to man in both middle and slog overs. Hailed for his wily variations, the right-arm pacer had an underwhelming start to the tournament.

Despite scalping two wickets, he went for 31 runs in 19 deliveries against Oval Invincibles, as Sunil Narine ensured a thrilling win for the Sam Curran-led outfit.

Meanwhile, talking about Southee, the crafty swing bowler has a plethora of experience in T20Is, having featured in the leagues around the world. After The Hundred 2023, the ex-RCB seamer will represent New Zealand in the white-ball series against England starting later this month.

Regarding London Spirit, the Dan Lawrence-led side is reeling at the seventh position in The Hundred 2023 points table. After losing their first game, the Spirit have witnessed two successive washed out fixtures and will clash against Trent Rockets in their fourth game on August 12.
