With each passing day, we are inching closer towards the ICC World Cup scheduled in India in October-November. While Australia have named a formidable eighteen-member squad, the rest nine teams are yet to release their respective teams for the marquee event. Talking about Pakistan, the Men in Green will enter the World Cup as one of the hot favourites, considering their lineup, studded with world-class fast bowlers and all-rounders. So, as Pakistan gear up for the 2023 World Cup, let's see what could be their squad for the showpiece event.

Pakistan's Probable Squad For 2023 World Cup

Batters: Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (C), Mohammad Rizwan, Abdullah Shafique, Mohammad Haris

Pakistan's first two slots are locked, with the experienced duo of Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq set to open the batting. It will be a toss-up between Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique for the third opener's position, with Pakistan likely to prefer the latter.

Mohammad Rizwan will be picked as the first-choice keeper-batter, considering his exploits in the 50-over format. Meanwhile, youngster Mohammad Haris is the front-runner to play his deputy.

All-Rounders: Agha Salman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz

The factor which makes Pakistan a team to beat in the World Cup is the presence of four top-class spin all-rounders, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz and Agha Salman. All these players will likely feature in the playing XI and are expected to balance the Pakistani side with their incredible all-round attributes.

Bowlers: Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Usama Mir, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Usama Mir

Pakistan's fast bowling department looks absolutely ruthless, comprising Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim Jr. While Afridi and Naseem will operate the new ball, Rauf will be their middle-overs enforcer.

Meanwhile, Wasim Jr will likely be included in the reserves alongside Usama Mir, who can chip in with handy contributions besides bamboozling the opponent batters with his leg spin.
