Former Indian opener WV Raman has supported India's decision to include four spinners in their T20 World Cup 2024 squad. The team has selected Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel among the 15-man squad, while only three specialist pacers have been included.

WV Raman believes this decision was made after considering the typically slower nature of the pitches in the West Indies.

"Let's not forget that a lot of thought would have gone into it. There must have been enough rationale and thinking behind those additions. Whatever you get to see on the West Indies pitches these days is more conducive to spinners" - said the former India women's coach.

Indian spinners performed well in the IPL, even on predominantly flat wickets this season. WV Raman is confident that India's experienced spinners will exploit the slow nature and turn of the West Indies pitches to their advantage.

Time to win back the title, former coach believes

India hasn't won the T20 World Cup title since Dhoni's team in 2007, but Raman believes this is the perfect time to win the title with the right squad.

Former Indian opener WV Raman also dismisses concerns about the lack of a gap between the IPL and the World Cup, stating that it will not bother the professional players.

At the same time Rohit Sharma utilizing Shivam Dube for bowling brings hope for India. Dube bowled effectively against Bangladesh. Both Dube and Hardik Pandya are expected to compensate for the absence of a fourth pacer in the squad.
