The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has recalled Mark Wood, their extreme paceman, to their squad before they take on the West Indies again on Thursday (July 18) at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

The 34-year-old will join the unit in place of James Anderson, who has retired from all forms of cricket after the Lord’s Test.

Wood last played for England in Dharamsala when they toured India in March 2024. The veteran pacer, who made his Test debut way back in 2015, will join the likes of Gus Atkinson, Chris Woakes in the Ben Stokes-led side’s prolific pace attack.

England won by an innings and 114 runs at Lord’s in their series opener against the West Indies. Atkinson, the debutant, won the Player of the Match award by scalping 12 wickets in the game across two innings.

This will be a three-match Test series between England and the West Indies, and the third one will take place at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
