As per emerging reports, the England Cricket Board and Cricket Scotland might join forces for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, United States. Notably, Cricket will make its much-awaited return to the Olympics in the upcoming edition, which will be conducted in the States four years later.

ECB in talks with Scotland for a merger in Olympics

Meanwhile, an ECB spokesperson has revealed that England might offer Scotland for a merger, as they will collectively represent Great Britain at the biggest stage.

"With the Los Angeles Olympics four years away, it's very early stages, but we're talking to Team GB and Cricket Scotland about the next steps we need to take," the spokesperson told ESPN Cricinfo.

"Once again Great Britain's Olympians have captured the national imagination with their exploits in Paris this year, and we look forward to working together to compete when cricket returns to the Olympic stage in 2028," he added.

Although England have a more formidable side, Scotland are not minnows anymore, especially in the shorter formats of the game.

Led by Richie Berrington, Scotland gave tough competition to stronger sides in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

So, if both nations join forces for the Olympics, the Great Britain could be one of the hot favourites for the Gold medal.
