Rachin Ravindra, New Zealand's young all-rounder has been the talk of the town since he got injured in the first game of the tri-series against Pakistan ahead of the Champions Trophy. He missed the first game of the ICC event as well due to the blow on his forehead, and there have been reports floating in media that his phone was stolen in Lahore Hospital before Champions Trophy.

Pakistan Journalist Slams Indian Media For Fake News

A renowned media outlet in India - Firstpost was at the forefront of those claims and came up with a long report where they questioned the security arrangements in Pakistan for the mega event. It created lot of buzz in social media with many people claiming that Pakistan is not fit to host an ICC event like Champions Trophy.

However, it seems that the news regarding Rachin Ravindra's phone was a fake one with Faizan Lakhani, Deputy Editor of Geo News, claiming that the New Zealand cricket's team manager has denied those claims. The journalist also accused Indian media of spreading fake news and urged them to verify the news before spreading it.

Rachin Ravindra's phone saga has once again brought into the limelight the issue of fake news and the role of media in creating differences between the two countries. However, the controversies and the series of fake news are not likely to tone down soon given the nature of media outlets of both the countries.

The cricket fans from both the countries though would be hoping that the high-profile encounter between India and Pakistan in February 23 produce some exciting action and live upto the billing and hype created outside the cricket field.
