The auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season is scheduled on December 19. However, the player registrations will be open only until November 30, i.e., less than three weeks prior to the planned auction event.

In order to apply themselves for IPL 2024 auctions, the players are required to submit their names along with a No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from their respective cricket boards. As per recent estimates, as many as 700 cricketers are expected to apply themselves for IPL 2024 player registrations.

The IPL 2024 auction player registration will likely conclude on November 30. Several prominent names, including a number of World Cup 2023 stars are expected to register their names for the bidding event.

Australia’s World Cup winning trio Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Travis Head are expected to garner much attention from several franchises during the bidding war, while New Zealand’s rising star Rachin Ravindra and sparkling Afghan talents Rahmat Shah and Ibrahim Zadran are also considered among the most sought-out personalities for their recent performances in India.

Earlier this week, on IPL 2024 retention day, the 10 competing franchises issued a list of their retentions and releases for the forthcoming season. As per BCCI’s estimates, as many as 70 new players will be distributed among all franchises in this year’s auction, considering at least 77 available slots are left to be filled following team’s fresh player releases.

The IPL 2024 season itself is expected to commence sometime in March next year, following the conclusion of India’s five-match home Test series against the visiting Englishmen.

The tournament will serve as a testing ground and a prelude for active international stars in their path towards the subsequent T20 World Cup, slated to be held in West Indies in June.
