Warner has picked Dravid to bat for his life [Twitter]
Australian opener David Warner landed in Thiruvananthapuram earlier this week along with the rest of his teammates for the forthcoming 2023 World Cup. The cricketer also took part in Australia’s three-match ODI series against hosts India in the second half of September to commence their preparations for the tournament.
Warner recently interacted with Jio Cinema and engaged in an interactive rapid-round interview. The cricketer entertained one-and-all with interesting responses, which even included a surprise Indian pick for one of the questions.
David Warner picked this Indian to bat for his life
During the interview, David Warner was asked a series of fun hypothetical questions as part of a promotional campaign for the 2023 World Cup. When he was asked to name the GOAT of cricket, he picked former South African all-rounder and all-time great Jacques Kallis.
Furthermore, Warner revealed that he would have liked to open the innings in Test cricket with Matthew Hayden and Virender Sehwag if he had ever received the opportunity. Notably, the dynamic Australian batter did open the innings with Sehwag, albeit in T20s, during their time together in Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in IPL.
What surprised everyone was when Warner picked former Indian captain Rahul Dravid as someone he would want to 'bat for his life'.
Notably Dravid, the ICC Hall of Famer, is currently the head coach of the Indian team in their quest for the 2023 World Cup.
While both Indian and Australian teams are actively engaged in the warm-up fixtures of the tournament, they will launch their respective World Cup 2023 campaign with a match against each other on October 8. Their much-awaited bout is slated to be hosted by the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
