The 2011 World Cup is etched in the hearts of the Indian cricket fans. The tournament was taking place in India and it was the last World Cup for the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar. It was special for him only as the whole nation wanted India to win the World Cup for him. 

The 2023 World Cup is also taking place in India and this time fans are all pumped up as India haven't been able to win any ICC trophy since the 2013 Champions Trophy. This time, fans want the World Cup for the pillars of Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. 

The Star Sports network shared a clip of one of their shows called 'Follow the Blues'. In the clip, Virat Kohli was speaking about the time he had at the 2011 World Cup final. He said that he will always remember his knock in the finals against Sri Lanka. 

When Kohli recalled the memories of 2011 World Cup

It was a high-intensity final for the Indian team in front of their home crowd. The Indian team were chasing and Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar were sent to the Pavillion by Sri Lanka's lethal seamer, Lasith Malinga. 

Virat Kohli came to bat and Sachin said something to him while he was walking in but he couldn't hear due to the nervousness and crowd. He said that he was praying that Malinga should not bowl the first bowl as a yorker to him. 

He also said that he will never forget this 35-run knock and the partnership of 83 runs he made with Gautam Gambhir which was very crucial at that point in time. Now India will be playing the World Cup in India after 12 years and would want to recreate the 2011 magic.
