Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, the franchises have listed the names of their released and retained players. Notably, a lot of big names have been released and you could expect these players to invite bidding wars.

India’s power-hitting middle-order batter, Shahrukh Khan has also been released by Punjab Kings and Ravichandran Ashwin reckons that he could fetch big bucks.

"I can definitely see a war between CSK and Gujarat for Shahrukh Khan. Gujarat have let go of Hardik Pandya , Gujarat needs a player who can finish the innings, a sort of power player. and they need a power player. Shahrukh was at Rs 9 crore At Kings, and I though he showed his skills pretty well. Is it a decent release? Because I think he might end up going for Rs 12-13 crore again," said Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube channel.

Shahrukh Khan featured in 14 matches for Punjab Kings in the last edition, scoring 156 runs at a strike rate of 165.96. CSK went after him at the mega-auction but Punjab won the bid in the end. India’s off-spinner feels that CSK will, once again, look to add him into their set-up.

"CSK might even take a chance of missing out on Mitchell Starc to get Shahrukh Khan because they don't have a local player or a presence. They went for Shahrukh Khan in the mega auction, and that's why I'm guessing so."

Punjab Kings retained the core of their side this time around and have released only five players, namely Mohit Rathee, Raj Bawa, Shahrukh Khan, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Baltej Singh. Shikhar Dhawan will continue to lead, while all the top players in the side have also been retained.

Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, have released England Test skipper Ben Stokes, along with the likes of Dwaine Pretorius, Ambati Rayudu, Kyle Jamieson, etc.
