On Sunday, the IPL franchises revealed their final retention lists ahead of the mini-auction scheduled next month. While some teams retained their core players, some others found it convenient to release several high-priced marquee players and enter the auction with a whopping budget.

Regarding RCB, the Faf du Plessis-led side released eleven players, including some key members- Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel and Josh Hazlewood. Furthermore, they traded Mayank Dagar with Sunrisers Hyderabad at the expense of Shahbaz Ahmed, saving 0.6 crore in this process.

So, RCB have 18 players in their team and will look to utilise the remaining salary cap of INR 40.75 crores in the upcoming mini-auction. Before the much-awaited event begins, let's see what players they might target to complete their squad.

5 Players RCB Could Target In Mini Auction

Several reports have suggested that RCB have roped in Cameron Green via an all-cash deal with Mumbai Indians. If it's true, they will have six remaining slots, including three overseas, with their budget reduced to INR 23.25 Crores heading to the auction.

If RCB have bought Green at such a high price, they will find a way to fit him into the playing XI. It means they will have three overseas players- Du Plessis, Maxwell and Green- locked in their top seven.

So, they might be keen to pick a few quality pacers and bowling all-rounders, Indian as well as overseas, in the mini auction, as mentioned below.

Kartik Tyagi

Hailed for his ability to bowl fast, Kartik Tyagi didn't get enough opportunity in the Sunrisers' camp after moving his base from Rajasthan Royals. The promising seamer has been released to the auction pool, and RCB would like to get him in to form a formidable pace battery alongside Mohammed Siraj and Reece Topley.

Mitchell Starc

The ace Australian speedster has announced that he will register his name and participate in the IPL 2024 auction. He is someone RCB can target, considering his ability to make the new ball talk and nail yorkers in the slog overs. Starc will be a high-budget pick, but RCB can afford him as they still have enough money in their purse.

Shardul Thakur

Renowned for his ability to scalp crucial wickets, Shardul Thakur could be the perfect like-for-like replacement for Harshal Patel in the RCB camp. Besides chipping in with four overs, Thakur can play useful cameos down the order, not letting RCB miss the all-rounder duo of Harshal and Hasaranga.

Shahrukh Khan

After playing several notable cameos initially, Shahrukh Khan found it challenging to get going in the IPL, failing to make an impact for Punjab Kings. As a result, the swashbuckling finisher has been released and will be up for grabs in the upcoming mini-auction.

RCB would be keen to secure his services and use him as a finisher alongside Dinesh Karthik, who was abysmal with the bat in the last season.

Daniel Sams

As RCB released David Willey, Wayne Parnell and Harshal Patel, they might consider buying Daniel Sams, who was released by Lucknow Super Giants. The Australian plays a similar role, as he can score handy runs besides bowling a few overs. They also might think of another low-budget pick like Odean Smith to increase the number of multi-dimensional players in their setup.
