The preparations for IPL 2025 are in full swing, as teams have just two days to submit their retention list for the upcoming mega-auction in the last week of November.
Several stars are likely to go under the hammer, and in the latest events, the Times of India has reported that several teams are keeping an eye on SRH all-rounder Washington Sundar, who shone in the second Test against New Zealand.
CSK, GT, And MI Interested In Sundar
According to the report, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gujarat Titans (GT), and Mumbai Indians (MI) are the three teams that have shown interest in the star all-rounder.
It is worth noting that Sundar was called up to the Indian squad for the 2nd Test against New Zealand in Pune. The Rohit Sharma-led suffered an embarrassing defeat, that resulted in their first Test series defeat in home in nearly 12 years. However, Sundar had a wonderful game as he registered a seven-wicket haul in the first innings and took four scalps in the second innings.
"Sundar is keen to go into the auction pool. At the moment, at least three teams - Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings - have shown a huge interest in him. While he will not be in the Sunrisers Hyderabad's retention list, SRH could retain Sundar in the IPL auction by using the RTM (Right to Match) card," a reliable source told TOI.
Not An Impressive IPL Career To Boast For Sundar
As per reports, SRH are likely to go ahead with Travis Head, Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen as their top choices for retentions. However, it is worth noting that Sundar has not had an impressive IPL career despite bagging 8.75 crores in the IPL 2022 auction.
In the last three years, Sundar has played just 18 matches owing to injuries. It is to be seen whether SRH will use RTM for Sundar and spoil other franchises' plans to avail Washington's services.
