In a significant development, Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman has parted ways with his agent and the agency that manages him amid the controversy surrounding the tweet he made to criticise the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Notably, after the PCB dropped Babar Azam from the Test squad, there was a huge uproar, and several cricket pundits slammed the Mohsin Naqvi-led board over their decision. Meanwhile, Zaman too jumped onto the bandwagon and defended his friend and ex-Pakistan skipper Babar by posting a tweet on X.
Fakhar Zaman Pays Heavy Price For Controversial Tweet
Zaman slammed the PCB and urged them to learn from the BCCI, who backed Virat Kohli from 2019-2022 when he suffered a major slump with the bat.
The Pakistan opener had to pay a heavy price for his tweet as the PCB, in a shocking move, left him out of the central contract. Further, they did not even select him for the upcoming multi-format white-ball tours against Australia and Zimbabwe.
Same Agency Manages Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan
In the latest events, Cricket Pakistan reported that Zaman has now parted ways with his agency 'Saya Corps', as it is said that the same agency manages Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam. Thus, speculations are that the timing of the post has put Fakhar in a difficult position and the agency made the post to benefit another cricketer at Fakhar’s expense.
Zaman's elder brother Gohar confirmed the series In his message, Gohar stated, “As an elder brother, I confirm that Fakhar Zaman will not be part of SAYA Corps from today,"
It is worth noting that before the controversial tweet, Zaman was among the front-runners to succeed Babar Azam as the new Pakistan skipper. However, on Sunday, October 27, the PCB announced Mohammad Rizwan as the new white-ball captain. Rizwan's first assignment will be against Australia starting on November 4.
