As per ESPNCricinfo, IPL franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have finalised their retention list ahead of the deadline day. The retention rules were released recently and teams started to develop their permutations and combinations for next season.

As per Cricinfo, SRH are set to retain star batter, Heinrich Klaasen for INR 23 crore and the Proteas powerhouse will be their first retention. Moreover, skipper Pat Cummins, who was bought for 20.50 crore, will be the second retained player for INR 18 crore.

Interestingly, the franchise are showing immense faith in youngster Abhishek Sharma and he will be the third retained player for INR 14 crore. However, the surprising move comes with SRH not planning to retain explosive top-order batter, Travis Head.

The Aussie batter had a memorable IPL 2024 campaign, smashing 567 runs in 15 matches, at a strike-rate of 191.55. However, the former IPL champions do have a plan and that is to get him using the RTM card.

SRH are also planning top use RTM on Nitish Kumar Reddy, who recently got his maiden T20I call-up and showed his class against the Bangladesh team. October 31 will be the deadline day for all the teams to submit the list of their retained players.

There are various price slabs for retentions - INR 18 crore, INR 14 crore, and INR 11 crore for the first three capped retentions, and INR 18 crore and INR 14 crore for the remaining two. The uncapped player can fetch a maximum of 4 crores, however, franchises are allowed to divide the capped retention pot of INR 75 crore among five capped players.

Aiden Markram misses out as SRH done with retention list

As per ESPNCricinfo, South African batter, Aiden Markram will not be retained by the franchise as they plan to overhaul their squad.

Interestingly, Markram captained SRH in the 2023 IPL season, where the team had an underwhelming performance. Ironically, Markram is the captain of Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the SA20 franchise, owned by Sunrisers.

Last season, captain Cummins trusted Markram to bat at number 4, despite the likes of Glenn Phillips warming the bench. In 2024, the right-handed batter scored 220 runs in 11 matches, at a strike-rate of just 124.29. In 2023, he scored just 248 runs, as SRH crumbled under his leadership.
