Nitish Kumar Reddy has made a big name for himself in 2024. India's latest batting sensation is well-known for his incredible skills with both bat and ball, Nitish broke onto the scene during the IPL 2024, playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). It truly was a dream season for him, the  21-year-old flattered everyone with his talent in every match. His brilliant performances earned him his first call-up to India’s Test team for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, which kicks off next month.

Nitish’s journey this year has been nothing short of remarkable. After his impactful performance in the IPL 17th edition, he proved to be a valuable asset for SRH, he debuted for India in the T20I series against Bangladesh earlier this month. And later on, his consistent performance paved the way for his selection in the Test squad, a significant achievement for any young player.

Nitish Reddy Praises 'Captain' Pat Cummins

In a recent interview, Nitish spoke highly of Pat Cummins, who led SRH for the first time in IPL 2024 and guided them to reach the finals. Nitish described Cummins as a captain who lets players express themselves on the field.

"Pat Cummins doesn't put pressure on players. He gives you license to get all out for 100 or score 240-250+ runs. He says the same thing, 'be aggressive and you play your game'. You have that license. Play according to the situation," he said.

This leadership style has clearly benefited SRH, as they notched up impressive records in sixes, highest scores, and partnerships this season.

The BCCI recently announced an 18-member squad for the Australia tour, with Nitish and Harshit Rana earning maiden Test call-ups. Kuldeep Yadav was dropped, and Mohammed Shami was not included. The much-anticipated Test series is set to begin on November 22 at the Optus Stadium.
