Mohammad Rizwan Replaces Babar Azam As New Skipper

In an expected yet unexpected turn of events, Pakistan's Babar Azam has once again resigned from the captaincy role. Following this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Mohammad Rizwan will be the new white-ball captain, succeeding Babar Azam. This is not the first time that Babar has 'stepped down' from the leadership role, as he previously gave way to Shaheen Afridi to lead the team. However, a short while later, he was reinstated.

Meanwhile, PCB also announced the squad for the series. While Babar is part of the Australia series, he has been rested for the Pakistan tour of Zimbabwe. The Australia series is all set to begin from November 4 onwards.

Babar-Rizwan Sit Tight In Category A

Interestingly, in PCB's latest revealed central contracts, only Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are in Category A. Despite Babar's recent inconsistent performances, he remains on the list. Whereas talking about Category B includes star pacers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, both of whom faced a demotion after previously holding higher positions.
