Massive blow for Delhi Capitals, Mitchell Starc won’t be coming back to play in the rest of the IPL 2025 season. The Australian fast bowler flew back home with other international players because of rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Now, he has told the Delhi Capitals team that he won’t return to India for the remaining matches.

Mitchell Starc Will Not Play for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025

A source told the Hindustan Times that Starc has made his decision clear, and the team has accepted it.

"Starc has informed the DC management that he won't be coming back. The franchise have accepted his decision," a source confirmed.

Meanwhile, Starc has also been named in the Australia's squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final against South Africa, starting in June.

Notably, Starc also became the second Delhi player to pull out of the tournament early, after Australia young batter Jake Fraser-McGurk.

Mitchell Starc's Performance In IPL 2025

This season, the DC pacer has done really well. He took 14 wickets in 11 games, including a five-wicket haul, which is a big achievement in the 20-over format. Over his IPL career, he has taken 65 wickets in 52 games, showing he’s a strong player.

Delhi Capitals still have three games left and are currently fifth in the rankings. They have a good chance to reach the playoffs. But losing Starc at this important time is a big problem because the team was counting on his experience and skills to win those last games.

Delhi Capitals will next play against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, May 18 at Arun Jaitely Stadium.
