The ICC's official deadline for announcing squads for the T20 World Cup is just three weeks away. Speculation is rampant in India about which players will secure spots on the team and who will be left out. With the World Cup selection meeting approaching, selectors face a crucial decision regarding the wicketkeeping position.

According to emerging reports, Rishabh Pant is expected to be chosen as the first-choice wicketkeeper, which means Sanju Samson is likely to face the snub once again.

Team India's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup is expected to be unveiled in the last week of this month, aligning with the ICC's submission deadline of May 1. Teams will have the opportunity to make changes to their initial squads until May 25. Indian Selectors are grappling with problems of plenty in every department, making their decisions particularly tricky. Many selections will hinge on performances in the ongoing IPL.

Samson set to be excluded from India's WC squad

Currently, Samson appears to be outperforming his competitors, including Pant. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) has made a strong start to the IPL season, averaging 59.33 in the first four games with an impressive strike rate of 150.8. In contrast, Pant has averaged 30.60 with a strike rate of 154.55 for his 153 runs.

Samson is currently in red-hot form, positioning him as one of the frontrunners for India's wicket-keeper role. Nonetheless, his consistency remains the greatest concern, and it's imperative for him to sustain his performance level.

While there is no official confirmation on who will don the gloves for India in the US and the Caribbean for the multi-nation tournament, speculation is rife about Samson's possible exclusion, causing unrest among fans.
